Description

This book is the catalog for an art exhibition, Federal Art in Cleveland 1933-1943, held at the Cleveland Public Library in 1974. The exhibit was the culmination of a three year research project by Professor Karal Ann Marling and her art history students at Case Western Reserve University. The book includes Professor Marling's 66-page introductory essay, "From Boom to Bust," a history of Cleveland's New Deal art program, with information about Cleveland artists Ora Coltman, William Sommer, Clarence Carter, Kalman Kubinyi,and Edris Eckhardt. The exhibit included murals easel paintings, graphic arts, and ceramic sculpture. The book is illustrated with black and white photographs.
